Albert Einstein once said that "there are two ways you can live your life...as if nothing is a miracle or as if everything is a miracle".
Today I had time to reflect, on a personal level a lot of my things in recent months has changed pretty dramatically. I left a place I called home for 33 years in pursue of a new career. To many, change can be scary or daunting and it also can be the best thing a person can ever do.
The one thing I’ve realized over the last few months as I type this is that no matter where we end up or journey in this life, we take ourselves, our life experiences and everything that makes us who we are with us. That begs the question, how do we find deeper meaning to lead to a more fulfilled life?
I think the answer lies in each of us, if we set to live a mediocre life then that’s what we’ll have, if we want more then it’s up to us to find a way to achieve whatever is more than mediocrity. I’ve learned that everything is interconnected in life, we all have an inner desire to understand the world around us through observing, learning and knowing. Each of us observes though a different lens and learns in our unique ways. Do you ever find yourself wanting to know what your true purpose is and how you can contribute to the world?
I find myself asking that question a lot, how does one even begin to decipher what small part we can add to a world so big? Here’s some ways to get started.
1. Find Your Joy
What makes you happy in life? Do you enjoy travelling, helping others, being with family, or all of the above?
This step again relies on a solid grounding in making adventurous activities, that you may just find bring you an incredible amount of freedom and happiness. When you know what truly makes you happy and joyful in life, then you will find a sense of purpose to your life. You will find a direction that you need to go in order to create the most meaningful life possible for you.
For instance, if you enjoy helping others and it makes you feel as though you are doing something with a purpose when you do so, then find a way to incorporate that into your daily life.
There is nothing more fulfilling than living your purpose every single day.
2. Listen To Your Intuition
Your intuition is connected to your inner-self. Don’t get caught living your life in complete superficiality. Superficiality is meaningless; it is short term and soulless. Finding the real person inside yourself is not easy but will definitely help you see what is really important in your life.
Every time you have a choice to make, your intuition is there to guide you.
It tells you that you are making a bad choice with negative gut feelings and instincts. It also lets you know when you are making a good choice by giving you a sense of happiness and ease. When you learn to listen to your intuition, and follow those moments that feel right, then you will be on your way to living a life with meaning.
3. Appreciate The Individual Moments
Don’t let the fast-paced world take over your life. Being busy searching is wonderful, but don’t get so busy doing that you don’t allow yourself to feel.
In the end, if you want to find the meaning of life stop playing by the rules and push past your fears. Figure out what truly makes you feel joy, and follow your intuition at every decision and most importantly, appreciate the experiences when they come and allow the feelings to flow through you, feeling is a magical feeling. Know that you can’t do this alone, call on your anchors; your inner circle of family and friends, loved ones. Fellowship; your faith and belief in God to give you the wisdom and the answers you seek.
Finding meaning in your life is not a difficult thing, rather its about taking the right steps each day to get there knowing the road may be bumpy or tough. Make the decision to start your search for meaning and experience everything that this life has to offer. It may be the best decision you’ll ever make!
