We must make conscious choices each day to live fully and make the most out of each experience we have. As I’ve learned in life, especially in my line of work in hospice we never know how long we will live, so it’s important to live with no regrets.
There are many people out there who have unresolved relationships issues, unfulfilled dreams, long lasting resentments or wish things in life could have happened differently. For me, I choose to live as if any day could be my last. Here are five ways to improve life wellness and start living with no regrets.
1. Let people know you love them
Love is one of the best feelings in life. Take time to tell your loved ones, maybe a friend or family member you’ve lost contact with over time that you love them. You will
find out that your relationships will grow and you will too.
2. Turn your failures into stepping stones
Every failure is one more step to a success. Remember that. Life is hard, failing in different aspects of your life can be exhausting and traumatizing, however those who don‘t quit after failure find that failure can be a stepping stone in disguise.
3. Be yourself and trust your instincts
You've heard this before, be yourself and “trust your gut”, well it’s very true. Your intuition is your best source of guidance. If we go into everyday life thinking 100% logical then we may miss out on many opportunities that our instincts or gut may have led us too. Being yourself is staying true to who you are, we all have our own values, beliefs, desires, personality traits, and unique qualities that define us. Trust in yourself, trust in your instincts.
4. Practice kindness and forgiveness
You ever hear of the expression “a smile can go a long way to brighten someone’s day”, intentional kindness is life-giving and it will not only improve your relationships but it will also improve your quality of life too. With kindness, there’s also forgiveness. Hurt and pain happen in life and sometimes it can come directly from the ones closest to us. By choosing to forgive, we release ourselves from the grip of resentment and can move forward in our lives and not stay stuck in the past.
5. Follow your dreams
Dig deep down and have a heart to heart with yourself, identify your passions, how you can impact the world and what you want out of your life. Once you do that, then work tirelessly to make it happen and your dreams will come true. I invite you to make up a bucket list if you haven’t already done so or if you have then expand upon it. Missing out on all the opportunities life has in store for us is no way to live—start living your dreams today!
Living life with no regrets is something we all should strive for. We get one life on this earth and its meant to be lived completely, with no regret. Close your eyes, when you open them, make today and everyday regret free!
