Self Reflection is Key to a Balanced Lifestyle

For this blog, I’d like to touch upon the Importance of Self Reflection... There are many reasons to self reflect, it helps build emotional self-awareness and gain a better understanding of yourself and where your at in your life and where you‘d like to be. By taking the time to ask yourself the important questions, you’ll be much better to understand your strengths, weaknesses and driving factors in life.
Here are 7 reasons why you should make self-reflection a priority and a daily or weekly routine.
1. Make Sense of Things
Taking time to make sense of things means reflection can help you process your thoughts and feelings and clear the thoughts floating around in our heads. I like to have a cup of coffee or journal or sit outside and try to cancel out the noise.
2. Uncover Your Breakthroughs
Reflection can help uncover solutions to our problems. By taking a moment to pause, reflect, and look within, you’ll find that you actually have many of the answers you’ve been seeking.
3. Challenge Your Thoughts
Sift through your weaknesses or downfalls you’ve encountered and ask yourself how you will be better in relazing your true potential.
4. Recognize Change and Progress
Reflection allows us to look back and see how far we’ve come. Start to write a few thoughts about your day, in weeks, months and years later you will be able to accurately reflect and recognize how much you’ve changed.
5. Increase Self-Awareness
“Change requires two things: a goal, and an awareness of where one currently is in order to assess the discrepancy between the two.” – Psychology Today
Be aware of where you are at today. Without self-awareness, we can’t fully understand our emotions, values, goals, or strengths. Reflecting on where your currently at today can set the stage for where you want to be in the future.
6. Inspire Self-Acceptance
Self acceptance starts with a self examination. Replace any negative thought with a positive one, the journey of self-love and acceptance will allow us to grow and learn within ourselves.
7. Live with More Intention
Routine reflection will give you the tools and mindset to gain better intentions for your life. You will start to make better choices and decisions that will steer you to a better place and healthier and revitalized YOU.
For my personal journey, I’ve been striving to reflect a little bit daily but always found the end of the week like a Sunday to be the best day because it’s known as a day of rest and relaxation. I like to have cup coffee outside, write my thoughts or a song or listen to my favorite Spotify playlist (I recommend the “Moods” genre, see slideshow below).
Self-Relection is key to our discovery of our true inner-self. By taking time to implent these steps, our lives will evolve and improve over time. I encourage you to self-reflect, a healthy lifestyle is on the horizon for all of us!
