“This time of year is not only about rejoicing but of reflection.”
Every year we celebrate Christmas, every year we try to make it meaningful. But instead we end up shopping, spending, stuck in crazy traffic jams and hectic schedules. A non-stop exhausting and expensive December. Sound about right?
Somehow, Christmas has become something we barely survive. This December, I challenge you to think different. Think outside-the-box 🎁!
Instead of racing around from one place to the other or spending money on things people don’t necessarily need, try this.
Try to give generously to
meet real needs.
AND
Try to make time for the
people around you.
This Christmas...
What if you bought less stuff? One less gift, a few less gift cards... And used that money to bless someone in need.
What if you carved out quality time unhurried or uninterrupted? And used that time to truly celebrate with the people in your life.
What if you went out of your way for a loved one, friend, co-worker or stranger? And did something small that impacted their life in a big way.
Folks, I think you get my point and let’s be honest. Material things do not always equal happiness, memories, contentment, fulfillment or meaning. Remember the Peanuts classic Charlie Brown Christmas special?
Our lovable Charlie Brown was tasked with finding a beautiful and special Christmas tree for the big play. Turns out what he found was nothing but a small tree, a simple tree, which his peers found to be insignificant and meaningless. When Charlie Brown with the help of his good pal Linus explains the true meaning of Christmas, the small and simple tree grew to mean much more.
That message back then still holds true to this day, that what truly matters in life are the
simple things; Family, love, happiness and faith. It’s not about the flashiest gift or even the biggest gift, it’s about sharing moments with the ones we love, treating people the way we want to be treated, being thankful for what we have and counting our blessings. Imagine how different things would be if we celebrated the meaning of Christmas not just one time a year but every-day.
In closing, strive to implement the true meaning of this season into your life and spread the message onward. It all becomes more meaningful. Make this Christmas different and bring the spirit into your hearts for years to come. That’s how to truly see “Christ” in Christmas. Oh, what a wonderful world it could be!
